Flag hoisting day was observed on Dhaka University campus on Tuesday, marking the 40th anniversary of the momentous occasion.
Dhaka University students celebrated 40th anniversary of national flag hoisting day on the university campus.
Marking the day, a cultural function was arranged in front of the Arts Building, where ASM Abdur Rab, former VP of DUCSU, hoisted national flag on March 2, 1971.
DU Vice-Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique, Pro VC Prof Harun-or-Rashid, Treasurer Prof Mijanur Rahman, DU Teachers` Association President Khandakar Bazlur Rahman, former VP of DUCSU Mahfuza Khanam, Mujahidul Islam Selim, Mahmudur Rahman Manna, former GS Morshed Ali and Khairul Kabir Khokon were present in the programme.
The members of 'Joydhani Cultural Organisation' rendered popular songs, which were famous during the Liberation War.
In the function, students took oath conducted by Mahfuza Khanam in order to maintain the country's sovereignty.
Mahfuza Khanam urged the students to keep their promise and work for the development of the country.
